"Art is for everyone, not just the privileged. It's all about giving back to the community." - Lynn Golitz

BLUSAIL is located at 903 Arendell Street, where the beautiful gallery stands not only as a local landmark, but also as a welcoming respite for those who pass through her doors. Sixteen years ago, Mark and Lynn Golitz opened the doors to BLUSAIL, bringing their shared love of art to the community.

Lynn’s artistic journey began when she started learning to paint from her friend, Linda Day. This was an experience that proved to be a turning point in her life. What began as a lesson quickly sparked a lasting passion for painting. Around the same time, Mark, who was working for a local business, was looking for a creative outlet to relieve stress. He discovered pottery, and it didn’t take long for him to become completely hooked. In their own ways, the Golitz's had each found the art form that spoke to them, laying the foundation for BLUSAIL's legacy.

Guided by strong personal values, Lynn and Mark believe in giving back to the community that has given them so much. BLUSAIL hosted a children's art camp. If you could not afford it, a scholarship was granted, so no child was left behind. This was a beloved program in Morehead City for local families. The Golitz's have watched the kids they taught grow into prosperous adults. It's a surreal feeling for them.

Families plan their trips to Morehead City around the annual BLUSAIL Christmas Tree Pottery class. They come from surrounding cities and states. This is a program that continues to this day and sells out quickly!

Another program that Lynn and Mark host is "Art Therapy." This wonderful program began 13 or 14 years ago in partnership with the hospital's Oncology Department. Once a month, patients and a nurse gather at BLUSAIL. Pottery and friendship take over. During this time, the focus isn’t on symptoms or treatments. It’s on having fun and creating. BLUSAIL becomes a safe haven where thoughts of cancer fade into the background, if only for a little while.

The Golitz's are not ones to boast about their good deeds. Instead, they quietly lend a helping hand wherever and whenever they can. Lynn and Mark have created something far greater than a business. They've built a community where people feel welcomed, valued, and at home. And,

we're so thankful for them.
