ANNUAL EVENTS
Downtown Morehead City hosts many events throughout the year including some hallmark annual events such as the Big Rock Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament, the North Carolina Seafood Festival, and the Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla boat parade. Our downtown district is steeped in history, charm, and beautiful scenery that continues to inspire vibrant and unique artwork. Spend some time in our independent art galleries, viewing murals and public art installations, scouting historic homes, strolling along heritage walking routes, and more while downtown.
Locals tip - we recommend visiting the Arts Council of Carteret County's store, the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum Store, and the History Museum of Carteret County!

Did you know? There are three different playgrounds within our downtown district, plus multiple public water access points and green spaces, in addition to the ferries and charters that depart from the downtown waterfront to sandy destinations just off the coast. Rainy days are the perfect excuse for a tour of the History Museum or a trip to Parson's General Store for a special treat.
PARKS & NATURE
Downtown Morehead City is ideally located on a peninsula surrounded by waters of the Bogue Sound, Newport River, and Calico Creek - just a short distance from the open expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. Our coastal environment is home to many birds, fish, and other marine creatures that call the Crystal Coast home.
We enjoy a year-round temperate climate, perfect for exploring all of the public parks and water access points no matter the season. Core 925 offers one-on-one and group training sessions. And, Bodhi Yoga offers different levels of Yoga, as well as Massage and Reiki.

We have a whole slew of exciting waterfront attractions and activities! Trusty Sail and Paddle offers sailing lessons and kayak, surfboard, and paddle board rentals. Downtown Morehead City also offers a ferry system that can run you to the various islands around us with a fully narrated trip and a public boat ramp on 10th Street.
